The 1850 Census for Carroll County, TN listed children 5 thru 11. By the 1860 Census Rebecca
has married, but the marriage is not recorded in Carroll County.
Court House records indicate that Benjamin Chapman was in Carroll County when he sold and
collected for the slave named, "Gem", this same transaction was also recorded in Pitt County, NC.
It is believed that he must have gone back to NC to live.
No great effort was expended to locate the other children in this family.
It is not certain that Winnefred was a Powers. I located she and her sister, Martha but have not
been able to find my reference. This is the reason for the question mark (?).
